Toward petroleum-free with plant-based chemistry

چکیده

Depletion of fossil resources, global warming, and increasing world's population represent major Damocles' sword for humanity to ensure its future against famine, climate change, the end petroleum era. Solutions will come from production plant-based chemicals, which is not new, nor a historical artifact. On earth, 99% biomass alive composed plants microorganisms. Because this biodiversity, it could be sufficient as comprehensive sustainable resource reagents industry. Against background, what needed industry worldwide solve long-standing unresolved problem how convert plant into reagents, ingredients, products with acceptable societal, environmental, cost levels? There an urgent need conceptual leap in fundamental applied research by original ‘multi-scales understanding.' Mitigating change fueled anthropogenic activities green chemistry establish circular bio-based economy while adhering Sustainable Development Goals scope perspective review.
